We’re here to help you heal your relationship with:
Your Food
At TLB Nutrition Therapy, we believe in a non-diet approach to food. This means that we will never demonize any foods or tell you what you can and cannot eat. Instead, we focus on supporting you in healing your relationship with food. This healing journey can look different for everyone. Our support is a client-centered process. We also believe in creating goals in an accessible manner and base all our recommendations on the person sitting in front of us. This will mean that we will explore your access to food, food preferences, and the relationship you are wanting to experience. Truly individualized care.
Your Body
Social Determinants
of Health
The dietitians at TLB Nutrition Therapy practice nutrition counseling through a weight inclusive lens. This means that we believe that all bodies are meant to be different shapes, sizes, colors, and abilities and do not force one’s body to do something it doesn’t do naturally. Through healing one’s relationship with food, we find that the body goes along that journey as well. Through this healing journey, we find that increasing one’s body attunement can provide great skills for long term recovery.
The dietitian’s also believe that our health extends beyond our body and food. These health factors can include access to education, healthcare, economic stability, neighborhood and environment, and social and community connection. With this knowledge, we focus on one’s health through their lived experience and support them on building skills thare accessible and attainable for their life.
We also believe that weight is not an action, but instead a symptom to something greater. We will explore what your body is communicating and what it needs, physically, spiritually and emotionally. We will ask deeper questions and get to know you. We want to be able to support your body journey by getting to understand the “whole picture” of yourself. From there, we will provide specific goals that meet your specific needs.
We will never recommend a forced body change (including forced weight loss). We believe that the body will go to where it wants to go with supportive behavior changes. When using the inclusive framework, we are focusing on your recovery as a whole - including mental, physical and emotional health. We provide support through challenging cognitive distortions, exposure therapy, and behavior change. We are hoping to help you build trust that your body will heal as these other areas in your life heal.
Your Movement
The dietitian’s at TLB Nutrition Therapy believe that movement is an important factor in one’s health. Our society tends to communicate to us that movement needs to be this complicated and negative practice. However, we are here to teach you that movement can be peaceful, fun and enjoyable. We understand that everyone’s body has different capabilities and therefore can assist you in creating a relationship with movement that is accessible to your body’s ability. Whether that is creating specific goals with you in session or providing you with resources in the community to explore your movement relationship, we are here to help.
We also understand that movement may not be an area that you are ready to focus on. That is ok. We believe that you are the leader of your treatment. We will take your lead on when you are ready to heal your relationship with movement and ready to incorporate gentle movement.
