Mariam Eid, RD, LD
(she/her)
Mariam is a second-generation Muslim, Lebanese, American from Austin, Texas. She graduated from the University of Texas at Austin and continued her dietetics training as a Longhorn. Mariam previously worked at HEB Nutrition Services with Texas Residents across all walks of life and supported them on their journey to healing their relationship with food, body and movement. She combines the non-diet philosophy with weight-inclusive care to help people unlearn the psycho-social damage learned from diet culture and embrace all foods without judgment. She holds extensive experience in supporting individuals newly diagnosed with PCOS, pre-diabetes, and diabetes.
Like many other children of immigrants, Mariam’s childhood nutrition advice was ciphered from WhatsApp groups. She personally experienced social media-based myths about nutrition pervading the Arab and Muslim communities. She grew up in an environment hyper-fixated on physical appearance and diet culture messages, which came at the expense of her hair, skin, and hormonal health. She unknowingly became a victim of diet culture, damaged her relationship with food, body, and movement, and felt physically, mentally, and emotionally interrupted. After discovering the world of dietetics, she began to respect and nourish her body while mending her relationship with food. She recognized that exercise is not meant to be militant and found her own balanced approach to movement.
In her free time, you’ll find Mariam baking brookies (brownie + chocolate chip cookies), playing with her adorable niece and two precious nephews, scrolling through TikTok, enjoying a Turkish drama, or writing a new blog post on her blog, A Happy AOneC.
Mariam believes in an individualized approach to nutrition care. She is especially passionate about helping others heal from a history of intergenerational weight and diet trauma and empowering them to adjust their mindset around health, improve their food and body literacy, and rediscover the intersection between physical health, mental health, and food satisfaction. She holds experience counseling people from diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds on prenatal and fertility nutrition as well as PCOS management in a compassionate, safe, and non-judgmental environment. Other medical nutrition therapy specialties include non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), celiac disease and other autoimmune conditions.
Mariam is a registered dietitian licensed in the State of Texas. She is only engaging in telehealth sessions.
