Headshot of Tabitha Parks

Tabitha Fithian, MS, RD, LD
(she/her)

Tabitha completed her undergraduate and graduate studies in Nutrition and Dietetics at Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, VA. Her passion for this field originated with a personal diagnosis of Type One Diabetes. After being introduced to the world of diet culture in diabetes and nutrition care, and after personally journeying through the throes of disordered eating, she became eager to understand how nutrition care could be delivered in a way that cultivated autonomy, collaboration, curiosity, and connection.

Through her graduate program, Tabitha was able to work with many different medical diagnoses, including a large span of time working in diabetes care. In this setting she saw first hand how disordered medical nutrition therapy information can be damaging to clients' well being. She believes that there is no perfect end point that we arrive at in our journey with our bodies and food, but rather a constant progression toward compassion, guidance, and learning how to lovingly parent our inner-child. Tabitha believes in the non-diet approach to nutrition and loves to see individuals make steps towards recovery in their relationship to food and their bodies everyday. She believes that in the world of nutrition there is much work to be done around accessibility, social justice, and equality and is looking for ways to continually grow as she learns more about these dynamics.

Tabitha loves the process of understanding the roots of peoples’ relationships to food and their bodies, and believes there is so much to gain in exploring these origins together. Tabitha understands how difficult it can be to work towards a recovered relationship with food and body while managing chronic illness, but truly believes that even so, peace with food and your body can be worked towards. She loves to see people’s personalities, passions, and hobbies blossom as they venture out of the world of diet culture into the world of freedom and recovery.

As Tabitha has progressed in her career she has found a passion of working with individuals with chronic health conditions, disordered eating and eating disorders and exploring how these two aspects co-exist.  Tabitha also loves working with teens who are feeling lost in their own body image and exploring with them on how to challenge the societal body expectations for this population.

In her free time you can find Tabitha doing anything outdoors, finding new ways to make her house “homey”, laughing at any remotely funny video, swimming with her yellow lab Maple, or spending time with friends and family. She also makes a mean charcuterie board.

Tabitha is a registered and licensed dietitian in the state of Texas.  She is engaging in both in person and telehealth sessions.
